BIOGRAPHY
Hilla Hueber is a San Francisco artist who creates detailed, abstract drawings in pen and ink on paper and board. Born and raised in Germany, she lived in Munich most of her life before moving to San Francisco in 1997. While working full time in a corporate job, she explored every opportunity on foot and with her camera and discovered breathtaking nature and a lively art scene. This discovery and the California light inspired her to begin drawing and painting. To pursue her keen interest in art, design, architecture, and photography, she studied at San Francisco State University and UC Berkeley Extension. This opportunity opened up a world of new ideas that has never left her, and Hilla is deeply grateful to her teachers at both institutions. In 2013, she became a full-time artist, maintaining a daily art practice in her San Francisco studio, and still studies at UC Berkeley Extension.
Hilla has shown her work throughout San Francisco and during spring and fall open studios. Many of her drawings can be found in private collections. As a board member of the Northern California Women Caucus for the Arts, she focuses on internal communications between the board and its members. As a co-founder of the Art, Wine, & Dine Artists Group and the Coalition of California Artists, she is involved in creating a presence and offering exhibit opportunities for Bay Area artists and artist groups.
